Trust & Safety

Leaving your pet with someone is a big ask. Here is what we check before a sitter can take a booking, and what you can do to feel sure.

How we vet sitters

  • Government photo ID

Every applicant sends government-issued ID, and the name on it has to match the name on the profile you book.

  • Criminal record check

Applicants complete an RCMP-standard background check. It is reviewed by a person on our team, not scored by a machine.

  • A real conversation

We speak to every sitter before approving them - about their experience, their home, and the animals they are comfortable with.

  • Badges you can see

An approved sitter carries a check on their photo. Extra badges come from outside partners, like first-aid training, and each one is earned, never bought.

Booking safely

  • Meet before you book

A free meet-and-greet is always worth it. Message a sitter and arrange one - a sitter who will not meet first is telling you something.

  • Keep it in the app

Book and pay through Petsity. Off-platform payments have no record, no refund and no support - if a sitter asks you to pay another way, report it.

  • Messages are the record

Agree the details in the app: keys, feeding, medication, the vet you use. If anything is disputed later, the conversation is what we read.

  • Reviews are from real stays

Only people who completed and paid for a booking can review it, and a hidden review stops counting toward a sitter's rating.

If something goes wrong

A vet comes first

If a pet is hurt or unwell, get them to a vet before you do anything else. Tell us afterwards - we can wait, an animal cannot.
